Since 1998, Sophie Mallebranche has transmuted metal into textiles.

The purpose of her work with the intrinsic properties of metals is to explore the fullest spectrum of colour and give sculptural contour and nuance to light itself.

From 1998 to 2008, her materials are woven fabrics of stainless steel, copper, tin, bronze, and brass. These metals mesh and interlace with strands of silk, linen, and even silicone. Since 2009, she now works within the framework of Material Design Group.
The goal, as she says, is to “harness new industrial techniques to enhance my creative work”. Creations are still made in France but now 100% metal.
